Cart Search is silent

When searching for volunteer positions ("Cart" screen) if there is a large list of positions available, the screen renders with a no results found message until the search API call returns, which can be 15 seconds or more (Demonstrated on a production site).
While the search is running and hasn't failed or returned, the screen should display a message indicating that it is searching, rather than displaying a no results message.
