Description
One of our clients doesn't have a dedicated "CiviCRM person", instead 5-6 staff + a few interns are each in charge of a few smaller areas (donor relations, CiviMail, maintaining contact information, physical mailings etc.). Since there is no single expert in the Organization, they want to simplify the interface as much as possible so as to keep things easy to use and to keep contact records consistent.
One of the main things that we've done to achieve this goal is to remove from the interface everything that is related to Households and Organizations.
I can see this being of use to a lot of other groups as well. Especially volunteer run groups need to keep things simple rather than flexible. They may still want the extensibility that CiviCRM offers to be able to do complex integrations, but for day-to-day tasks, having a straightforward and highly usable interface is more important.
I am envisioning another set of options at civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/display to achieve this.
